Maryland Science Center Offers Extended Hours and Festive Activities for the Holidays

Cold-nosed, out-of-school, inquisitive children can kiss their winter blues goodbye. The Maryland Science Center offers a great way to escape the cold and discover the wonders of the world with a sleigh-full of holiday activities.

EXTENDED HOURS
With extended holiday hours, there's more time to play, learn, and have fun during winter break. From Sunday, December 24 through Monday, January 1, 2007, the Maryland Science Center will be open:

Sunday, December 24th: 10 am - 3 pm
Monday, December 25th: CLOSED
Tuesday - Saturday, December 26th - 30th: 10 am - 6 pm
Sunday, December 31st: 10 am - 5 pm
Monday, January 1st: 10 am - 5 pm

SPECIAL IMAX FILM
The St. John Properties IMAX Theater's holiday film, Santa vs. the Snowman, premieres November 17 and will run through January 1, 2007. This animated film features a humorous clash of holiday heavyweights, a a hilarious polar feud erupts between a snowman's army of snow minions and Santa and his elves. Admission for Santa vs. the Snowman may be purchased as part of the admission to the Maryland Science Center, or as an IMAX-only ticket after 4:00 pm.

NEW YEAR'S EVE
The Maryland Science Center will welcome the New Year with a family-friendly celebration, Night 365, on Sunday evening, December 31 beginning at 7:00 pm.

During Night 365, guests can explore all of the Maryland Science Center's exhibits: Dinosaur Mysteries, Your Body: The Inside Story, Follow the Blue Crab, Newton's Alley, Our Place in Space, and the Kids Room. Revelers will experience the wonders of the Davis Planetarium and enjoy the holiday IMAX film with special show times throughout the evening.

Teens can attend the first-ever Maryland Science Center Teen Dance Party, where they can dance, mingle, snack on refreshments and celebrate the New Year with friends.

Tickets to Night 365 are $30 per person for Maryland Science Center members and $35 per person for non-members, and include all exhibits, activities, light refreshments, karaoke, and games. Advance tickets may be purchased by calling 410-545-5940.

HOLIDAY GIFTS
The Maryland Science Center Store offers thousands of cool, creative and cognitive gifts for family fun and lively learning. This holiday season, the Store is stacked with the latest gizmos and gadgets to satisfy both the budding scientist and the bored student.

A membership to the Maryland Science Center is a gift the entire family can enjoy. Benefits of membership include free admission for a year and discounts on IMAX Theater tickets and birthday parties. In addition, Maryland Science Center members receive free admission at over 250 other science centers around the country.

The Maryland Science Center at Baltimore's Inner Harbor is visited by more than 550,000 people each year. Popular exhibits include: Dinosaur Mysteries with more than a dozen full-size dinosaurs and interactive paleontology activities; an exploration of the day in the life of the human body in Your Body: The Inside Story; and dozens of interactive experiments in Newton's Alley. Other popular attractions in the museum include the Kids Room, the five-story St. John Properties IMAX Theater, and the world-famous Davis Planetarium.
