"Stardust Lounge" Summer Solstice Gala Set for June 18 The dinosaurs, skeletons, and plankton will be joined by hipsters, swingers, tappers and singers on Saturday evening June 18, for the Maryland Science Center’s annual fundraising event. Solstice 2005 – titled Stardust Lounge – will begin at 7:00 pm, as the inside of the Maryland Science Center is transformed into lounges reminiscent of the 1920s and 30s—complete with tap dancing gents and crooning beauties! Formally-attired guests will swing to the big band sounds of Doc Scantlin and his Imperial Palms Orchestra, and each of the museum’s exhibits will become a lounge with its own unique flair. Your Body: The Inside Story will be re-christened the “Elbow Room,” while Dinosaur Mysteries evolves into the “Lizard Lounge.” Each of the lounges will feature hors’ d’oeuvres, chef-attended stations for buffet dinner, cocktails, and signature entertainment. The annual Solstice gala is the Maryland Science Center’s largest fundraising event of the year, and raises funds to support the educational programs at the downtown Baltimore museum. Tickets for Stardust Lounge are $500 per person. Sponsorships and blocks of tickets are available from $5,000. For ticket information, call the Maryland Science Center at 410-545-5989.
