Dinosaurs Alive! 3D Stomps Into Maryland Science Center Dinosaurs Alive! 3D, the new feature film produced and funded by the Maryland Science Center will immerse audiences in exciting expeditions with modern-day dinosaurs hunters, and bring them face-to-face with fearsome dinosaurs in the St. John Properties IMAX Theater beginning Saturday, April 28, 2007. Narrated by Academy Award-winner Michael Douglas, Dinosaurs Alive! 3D follows the expedition of two paleontologists from excavation sites in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia to the Ghost Ranch digs of New Mexico as they research dinosaurs and make incredible discoveries about how these colossal creatures lived. Paleontologists discover fossils of two dinosaurs still gripping each other in mortal combat, and then use state-of-the-art technology to recreate the dinosaurs' ferocious battle in realistic - and life-sized! - 3D experience on the five-story IMAX screen. The Maryland Science Center has long had a role in the production of IMAX films. Senior Director of IMAX and Planetarium, Jim O'Leary, lead the Maryland Science Center's involvement in the making of Dinosaurs Alive! 3D by providing science content and technical consultation to the film-makers. Dinosaurs Alive! 3D will be offered daily in the St. John Properties IMAX Theater. Admission for the film can be purchased as part of admission to the Maryland Science Center Dinosaurs Alive! is a production of David Clark Inc., Giant Screen Films, the Maryland Science Center, and Stardust Blue, in association with the American Museum of Natural History. The film is written and directed by two veteran filmmakers, Academy Award-nominated Bayley Silleck and Emmy Award-winning David Clark, with cinematography by Bill Reeve. Dinosaur animation was created by DamnFX, whose artists have previously created dinosaurs for the Discovery Channel specials about dinosaurs. Major funding was provided by the National Science Foundation with additional support from the Museum Film Network, and the 3D Film Interest Group. The film is distributed by Giant Screen Films of Evanston, IL. The Maryland Science Center at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor is visited by more than 550,000 people each year. Popular exhibits include: Dinosaur Mysteries which features more than a dozen full-size dinosaurs and interactive paleontology activities, an exploration of the day in the life of the human body in Your Body: The Inside Story, and add... dozens of interactive experiments in Newton’s Alley. Other popular attractions in the museum include the Kids Room, the five-story St. John Properties IMAX Theater, and the world-famous Davis Planetarium.
