BODYWORLDS 2 DOCENT
GUEST SERVICES DEPARTMENT
Position involves answering general museum inquires, assisting with explaining BodyWorlds 2 Exhibit, and interacting with the visitors.
Duties: Stands in designated areas of the exhibit and explains key elements including the Plastination and Body Donation process; ability to answer exhibit questions as well as general museum inquiries. On occasion, duties may include some general Guest Services operations including ticket taking and ticket sales.
Skills: Background or interest in anatomy, biology, and/or teaching is required; friendly and outgoing; willing to learn about the exhibits and MSC; must enjoy working with the public, especially school age children; excellent communication skills; must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Training: Provided by Guest Services

ASSISTANT
MEMBERSHIP/MARKETING DEPARTMENT
Duties: Assist with incoming telephone, email and letter inquiries into the Membership Office during the run of the popular exhibit, BODY WORLDS 2 - through September 1, 2008.
Skills: Internship would hone customer service, sales and marketing skills. Applicant must be computer/Internet email communication savvy; have basic correspondence skills; ability to work independently; professional phone manner required. Inquiries usually lead to ticket and membership sales - previous Box Office experience a plus. (Requirements/skills may vary with each communication.)
Training: Provided by Marketing/Membership staff.

TERRALINK SCHOOL PROGRAMS INTERN
IMAX/PLANETARIUM DEPARTMENT
Duties: Assist with presentation of TerraLink school programs including setup, activity assistance, and tear down.
Skills: interest or knowledge of Earth Science or related field; teaching experience helpful; comfort before audiences and presenting.
Training: Provided by the TerraLink staff. Intern should acquire necessary education and ability to present the program in TerraLink manager's absence.

TERRALINK EDUCATION/EXHIBIT DEVELOPER
IMAX/PLANETARIUM DEPARTMENT
Duties: Assist with creating new and enhancing existing educational activities for TerraLink, such as: Public Programs cart demonstrations; Computer/Power Point presentations on specific topics; Existing computer programs in the exhibit; Any other activity suggested by the volunteer; and work with TerraLink Manager to develop and establish new educational activities.
Skills: Interest in informal education; background in Earth Science or related field a plus; computer/internet research skills; ability to work independently; presentation skills. (Requirements/skills may vary with each project).
Training: Project by TerraLink staff.

TERRALINK XML/HTML DEVELOPER/GRAPHIC DESIGNER
IMAX/PLANETARIUM DEPARTMENT
Duties: Update interface for the "Magic Planet" exhibit piece in TerraLink: primarily will add slider controls to change latitude/longitude and playback speed; redesign layout to be more appealing and functional; improve navigation between images, and help add imagery to the magic Planet.
Skills: XML/HTML knowledge or willingness to explore and learn XML; some graphic design knowledge helpful but not necessary; Earth Science knowledge or interest a plus.
Training: Provided by TerraLink staff.

SCIENCE ON A SPHERE EDUCATION ASISTANT
IMAX/PLANETARIUM DEPARTMENT
Duties: Assist with maintaining play lists, presentation scripts, and imagery for database for Science on a Sphere; create and, if desired, present new presentations for Science on a Sphere; find new imagery for Science on a Sphere; work with SOS Linux system (training provided).
Skills: Comfortable working with Windows or Mac computers; knowledge or interest in space and/or Earth Science or related field; public speaking experience or willingness to learn.
Training: Provided by the IMAX/Planetarium Department staff.

VIDEO PRODUCTION/ARCHIVE INTERNSHIP
IMAX/PLANETARIUM DEPARTMENT
Duties: Exact duties to be determined by intern's interest and experience; however, the video internship could consist of a combination of the following duties: Compile footage from various sources (VHS, DVD, Beta, mpeg) into longer DVDs for our SpaceLink/TerraLink/BodyLink exhibits; Caption/subtitle existing DVDs; Produce a short 5-10 minute video on current science based topics to be used in the Link exhibits; transfer VHS/Beta footage to DVD; Identify new videos/footage to obtain for the Link exhibits.
Skills: Familiarity with video editing with FinalCutPro or AVID; access to own/school video editing equipment/software desirable.
Training: Necessary training will be provided by the IMAX/Planetarium staff.

Interns/Volunteers are also sought for the following Graphic Design projects:
Production of Flash (or similar) animations of news storied for the exhibit (may also include stories of health and/or space science) - access to own software desired.
Graphic Design/layout for slide show-based display of news headlines.
