Put on you lab coat, your goggles, and your gloves. You’re the scientist learning how to use scientific tools similar to those available in biological laboratories in our WetLab. Identify unknown bacterium, extract living DNA, learn how to use a microscope, and test the effectiveness of antimicrobial agents in our state of the art WetLab—located in BodyLink.

We Offer Four WetLab Experiments:

Introduction to Microscopy
Explore the use of a light microscope by preparing and observing your own fingerprint and hair samples.

DNA Extraction
Extract living DNA from wheat germ using common household products in a simple extraction procedure.

Testing Anti-microbial Agents
Test the effectiveness of common household cleaning agents and anti-microbial agents in killing a bacterium, Bacillus megaterium, using an enzymatic test.

Mystery Microbes
Identify an "unknown" bacterium using simple chemical tests, staining techniques, microscopic examination, and enzymatic tests.
